about

“Dwarf Star” was conceived and written in my 1964 Baracuda that became my home for about two weeks after the event that eventually led to the separation from my wife of 13 years. I was driving around with no money and no plan, I had my guitar, a blanket, a bottle of Tequila and a book of short stories by Dylan Thomas. I usually parked under the bridge near Riverside Drive to tuck in for the night and that’s where that song came from. “Honking At Demons” was me driving to meet my kids after the traumatic and sudden ‘Papa’s left the house’ and I was out of my mind with pain and indecision and just smashed my hand on the horn as my car screamed empathetically with me. These are some of the most raw and intimate songs I’ve written and I’m really happy my JYL brothers were there to record them with me. Eric Westfall was there to put it all on tape. Extra love and thanks to Robert Lloyd for his perfect contributions! Yeah, this one is rather autobiographical and remains one of my favorites.
